Global Net Report: DHAKA, April 07, 2021 – Ekushey Padak recipient and Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Indramohan Rajbongshi passed away today. He breathed his last at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMUH) at 10:25 am at the age of 75. Earlier, he had tested positive for COVID-19. In the early 1950s, He learnt music under his grandfather, Krishna Das Rajbongshi.
Also, he Involved with Jatra, Palagaan, Nazrul Sangeet, and folk songs, he was admitted to the Bulbul Lalitakala Academy in Nazrul song in the late 1960s and completed a five-year course. He joined the Government College of Music in 1974. In 1963, Indramohan started to learn folk songs under Hafizur Rahman.
In 1971, Indramohan took part in Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. In 1998, he established a folk organization, Bangladesh Lok Sangeet Parishad (Folk Song Council), which works to practice, preserve, promote and do research on folk songs.
Indra Mohan Rajbongshi wrote about 100 folk songs for children, including songs on the country’s Liberation War and Language Movement.
Indra Mohan received his Certificate of World Master from Kim Sung Oak, chairperson of The Association of World Masters for the Exchange of Arts and Culture.
