Global Net Report : The results of the biennial election of Brahmanbaria Press Club have been announced. Riaz Uddin Jami District Correspondent of Daily Janakantha, has been elected as the president and Jabed Rahim Bijan District Correspondent of Independent Television as the general secretary. The district election commission announced the results after counting the votes on Monday evening. As a result of the election, Riazuddin Jami was elected as the President with 20 votes. His rival candidate Deepak Chowdhury Bappi got 15 votes. Jabed Rahim Bijan was elected general secretary with 28 votes. His rival Baharul Islam Mollah got 11 votes. Pijush Kanti Acharya ATN Eastern Bureau Chief has been elected as the senior vice-president with 16 votes. His rival Md. Jasim Uddin got 14 votes and Syed Mohammad Akram got 6 votes. Ibrahim Khan Sadat was elected vice-president with 22 votes. His rival Niaz Mohammad Khan Bittu got 14 votes. Nazrul Islam Shahzada was elected as the treasurer with 23 votes. His rival candidate Mosharraf Hossain Belal got 14 votes. Shahjahan Saju was elected as the office secretary with 21 votes. His rival candidate Mozammel Chowdhury got 16 votes. Mojibur Rahman Khan was elected as the Culture and Information Technology Secretary with 23 votes. His rival candidate Ujjal Chakraborty got 14 votes. In addition, 4 people have been elected unopposed in 4 posts. They are Syed Riaz Ahmed Apu as joint general secretary, HM Siraj as library and action secretary, Farhadul Islam Parvez and Monir Hossain as executive members. Later, the newly-elected leaders thanked the journalists and expressed their determination to work for the welfare of the country and the nation. It may be mentioned that 36 voters exercised their voting right at Brahmanbaria Press Club from 2 pm to 5 pm on Monday. Sadar Upazila Election Officer Jannat Jahan conducted the election. Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Mohammad Abu Saeed and Executive Magistrate Gon were present at the time.
Meanwhile, in a message, Brahmanbaria Journalists Forum Dhaka President Syed Ishtiaq Reza and General Secretary Shah Muhammad Mutasim Billah congratulated the newly elected president and general secretary of Brahmanbaria Press Club and the new committee.
