Global Net Report : Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan has said that a tour of Sri Lanka is not possible in accordance with the quarantine conditions of the Sri Lankan Cricket Board. He said this after a meeting at the BCB office in Mirpur today.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sent a health guideline to the BCB yesterday. There, they said they would not give any concessions on corona-hygiene. In the Corona situation, it is not possible for the Sri Lankan government to deviate from the conditions imposed on foreign nationals visiting the country, the SLC said. According to the rules, everyone is required to strictly abide by the 14-day quarantine. The Bangladesh team was scheduled to play three Tests in the World Test Championship during its tour of Sri Lanka.

The BCB wanted to quarantine a maximum of 7 days, not 14 days. The health guidelines sent by the Lankan Cricket Board did not include the opportunity to practice in the 14-day quarantine. There are even conditions at the hotel where players cannot leave their rooms. The BCB is reluctant to accept this.

The BCB thinks that going to Sri Lanka and doing a 14-day quarantine will affect the overall performance and fitness of the players. In the midst of such controversy, the BCB president clarified his position today. He said it was not possible for Bangladesh to go on the tour on the terms of the Sri Lanka Board.

He said the BCB has already written to the SLC stating its position. The next decision will be taken as soon as the answer is received.
