Global Net Report: In the third phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections in Nabinagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria, the candidates for the boat symbol have been defeated. Awami League nominated candidates in 5 out of 13 UPs of the Upazila and rebel and independent candidates have won in 8 of them.
Lutfar Rahman Lal Mia (Barikandi, elected unopposed), Jasim Uddin Ahmed (Satmora), Abu Musa (Ibrahimpur), Shamsuzzaman Khan Masum (Shyamgram), Anwar Hossain (Birgaon) have been elected unofficially as chairman with the boat symbol.
Kazi Zakir Uddin (Srirampur, Horse), Ravi Ullah Ravi (Jindpur, Pineapple), Golam Mostafa Maruf (Ratanpur, Pineapple), Mohammad Nur Alam Nur Azzam (Nabinagar West, Pineapple), Khandaker Monir Hossain (Rasullabad, Pineapple) are the rebel candidates of Awami League. Md. Jahangir Alam (Laur Fatehpur, Horse), Ashikur Rahman Sohel (Salimganj, Pineapple) Md. Helal Uddin (Nabinagar East, Chashma) has won unofficially as an independent candidate with the symbol.
Voting for the third phase of the 13 Union Parishad (UP) elections in Nabinagar Upazila was held peacefully on Sunday (November 28). No untoward incident has taken place anywhere. In this phase, voting has been done in Birgaon Union through an electronic voting machine (EVM) and in the rest through ballot paper. Voting starts at 8 am and ends at 4 pm.
