
Global Net Report: DHAKA, April 7, 2021 – The US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) has created new opportunities for Bangladesh companies while launching the US-Bangladesh Business Council on Tuesday 7 March between the two nations.
He made the remarks at the launching ceremony of the US Bangladesh Business Council formed to serve as a platform for American businesses to engage both governments and promote opportunities for business to drive mutually beneficial economic growth, a press release said here.
Myron said the launching of the US-Bangladesh Business Council reflects
the US Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to advance efforts to deepen trade and investment ties between the two countries.
“We believe the Council will serve as the premier bridge between
business and government leaders in both countries,” he said.
US Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President for South Asia Nisha
Biswal will lead the U.S.-Bangladesh Business Council.
“The US-Bangladesh business Council will work to strengthen trade
and investment between our two countries, promote transparency,
inclusion and market-based reforms so that we can ensure that the
coming decades continue to build prosperity and opportunity for the
people of Bangladesh,” he said.
The Council will be guided by a newly constituted US-Bangladesh
Business Council Board of Directors that includes Vice President
(Business Development) of Chevron Jay R. Pryor, Senior Vice President
of MetLife Elena Butarova, Public Policy Director of APAC Emerging
Countries, Facebook, Rafael Frankel, President, and Chief Executive
Officer of Excelerate Energy Steven Kobos, Senior Vice President of
Global Government Engagement, Visa Ambassador Demetrios Marantis, President of General Electric South Asia Mahesh Palashikar, and Head of South Asia of US Soybean Export Council Kevin Roepke.
The Council was launched with featured inaugural remarks of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina, as well as special addresses by Prime
Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Commerce Minister
Tipu Munshi, US Department of State Senior Official for Economic
Growth, Energy and the Environment Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, US
Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and Bangladesh Ambassador to US MShahidul Islam.
