“Sastho Bidhi Mene Choli, Corona Songkromon Protirodh Kori” (Adhere to hygiene rules, prevent corona infections) With this slogan in mind, an awareness program has started.

 The inaugural meeting of the hygiene promotion program was held at the fortified tourist centers announced by the Bangladesh Tourism and Hotels Workers-Employees Federation. Hygiene compliance, wearing of masks indoors and outdoors to protect the tourism industry and tourism workers, is called for to maintain physical distance. Today (August 19, 2021) at 11:30 am, the program was launched at Sugandha Point on Cox’s Bazar beach.

Rashedur Rahman Rashed, Central Convener of Bangladesh Tourism and Hotels Workers-Employees Federation spoke under the chairmanship of Rokon Ahmed Rakib, Member Secretary of Cox’s Bazar District Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Tourism and Hotels Workers-Employees Federation,  Mr. Nazrul Islam, District Organizer, Workers Front, Mr. Harun Ur Rashid, Manager, Hotel Shaibal, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation,  Executive members of Cox’s Bazar district sub-committee Abdul Wadud, Mohammad Rezwan, Abdur Rahman, Mohammad Shahjahan, Mohammad Sohail, Harunur Rashid, Mohammad Aro Uddin, Mohammad Rashed, Shahin Alam, and others.

Rashedur Rahman Rashed, the convener of the organization, also said tourist centers in Bangladesh had been closed for a long time due to restrictions imposed to prevent corona infection. As a result, besides the loss of thousands of crores of taka in the tourism industry as a whole, the tourism workers are also living a dehumanized life without any income. The “Bangladesh Tourism and Hotels Workers-Employees Federation” is making relentless efforts to mobilize the government and concerned parties to protect the tourism workers from this adverse situation. In addition to raising its voice to ensure labor rights as a responsible labor organization, it has been working in the public opinion organization, arguing for the development potential of the tourism industry in Bangladesh and the need to strengthen the departments concerned with the tourism industry.

In view of the demands of various trade bodies related to tourism including our organization and the recommendation of the Bangladesh Tourism Board, the government has recently given permission to operate tourist centers following health rules from today. In this situation, in order to create awareness among the tourism workers and tourists to follow the hygiene rules, our organization has undertaken a fortnightly hygiene promotion and mask distribution program in all the tourist centers with the slogan “Adhere to the hygiene rules, prevent corona infection”. In order to protect the tourism industry and their livelihood in the face of adversity in Corona, all the tourism workers will encourage the tourists to follow the hygiene rules as well as the hygiene rules. This is our effort to highlight the importance of implementing hygiene among tourism workers.

Mr. Harun Ur Rashid, Manager, Hotel Shaibal, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, called upon all tourists visiting Cox’s Bazar and all those in charge of tourist centers to implement and follow the hygiene guidelines issued by the Bangladesh Tourism Board. He cited the health promotion program as an example of responsibility and wished the organization success.
