Global Net Report : The universities have decided how the admission test will be conducted in cluster system in 19 universities. This test of 100 marks will be in multiple choice questions (MCQ). There will be three separate examinations for Science, Humanities and Business Education (Commerce) based on the syllabus of higher secondary. There will be no separate test as before for change of category.

In other words, a student who is willing to be admitted will get the opportunity to be admitted according to his / her qualifications only with an examination. Through this test one can get admission in other department as well as in one’s own department. That is how the thematic seats will be kept. Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mizanur Rahman, who is in charge of joint convener of cluster-based admission test activities in these universities, said this.

These decisions were taken at a meeting of the vice-chancellors of 19 universities on Saturday. However, the timing of the admission test depends on the situation. Corona actually did three tests in three days to control the situation. All universities will have test centers. Students will be able to choose the test center at their convenience.

Qualification and number distribution

Professor Mizanur Rahman said, those who will pass HSC and equivalent examinations in 2019 and 2020 will get the opportunity to take part in the admission test. The question of this test number 100 will be in MCQ method. There will be three tests for three sections. In order to take part in the humanities department exams, one has to have a minimum total GPA-6 in SSC and HSC or equivalent exams. However, if the test is less than GPA-3 will not work. For the Commerce Department, the minimum GPA in those two exams should be 6.5. Here also, if you are below GPA-3 in any test, you should not do it. And in science, two exams must have a minimum total GPA-6. Here also, if you have a GPA below three in any exam, you cannot apply.

Professor Meezan said the humanities department exams will be on Bengali, English and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subjects. There will be 40 marks in Bengali, 35 marks in English and 25 marks in ICT. In Business Education (Commerce) there will be examinations in Accounting (No. 25), Business Organization and Management (No. 25), Language (No. 13 in Bengali and No. 12 in English) and ICT (No. 25). And science students will have to take exams in language (10 out of 20 marks in Bengali and 10 marks in English), chemistry (20 marks), physics (20 marks) and ICT, mathematics and biology. Of these, ICT, Mathematics and Biology are the two subjects to be tested. Each of which will have a number of 20.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed said students will have the opportunity to take the exam for the second time (2019 and 2020). However, the university will decide which universities will admit the students who have taken the test for the second time.

After seven agricultural universities, a meeting of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the vice-chancellors on December 1 decided to conduct admission tests in 19 more general and science and technology universities in a cluster system. There will be direct admission test in these universities.

The 19 new universities decided to be admitted on cluster basis this year are Islamic University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Khulna University, Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, Maulana Bhasani University of Science and Technology, Noakhali University of Science and Technology, Jagannath University. Comilla University, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Jessore University of Science and Technology, Begum Rokeya University, Pabna University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Barisal University, Rangamati University of Science and Technology, Rabindra University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Sheikh Hasina University and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology.
