Shrekail Government College Chhatra Dal organized a human chain demanding the death penalty for rape. The human chain of the Chhatra Dal of the Shrekail Government College branch was held to demand the death penalty for rape, ending violence against women nationwide, online harassment, impunity, the recent deterioration of the law and order situation in the country, and the hanging of the rapist.
The Chhatra Dal leaders and activists formed this human chain in front of the main gate of the college at 10 am on Tuesday (March 11).
Md. Enamul Haque, convener of Shrekail Government College Chhatra Dal, Saiful Islam, member secretary, Md. Shafiq Union Chhatra Dal, Md. Rajin, Md. Jisan Uddin, Md. Musharraf, Rakiba Akhter Nafiza, Ali Akbar Khan and other ordinary students were also present at the time.
Chhatra Dal leaders said that after the July Uprising, a nationwide rape competition is going on. Visible justice must be ensured so that no woman, no mother, no sister is ever raped in independent Bangladesh.
Md. Enamul Haque, convener of the college branch of Chhatra Dal, said, “We are standing here today in a human chain to protest the oppression, torture and rape of women across the country. Why should sisters like Asia be raped? Why is there such a delay in their trial?”
He also said that the investigation process of all rape allegations must be completed within three days. In addition, the trial process must be settled within the next 90 days. He demanded the maximum punishment of hanging for the rapist.
