In an exclusive interview with Global Net, Kazi Mohini Islam openly discussed tourism in Bangladesh. The magnetic part of the conversation with Kazi Mohini Islam is highlighted here:

Global Net:  How did you start writing?

Kazi Mohini Islam: I spent a lot of my youth in the solitary nature on the banks of the river Sangu in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban district. Every morning when I woke up, I could see the morning sun peeking out from behind the sky-scraping green hills. The fountain is flowing, the river is flowing, the birds are singing in different tunes, the smell of unnamed wildflowers is wafting in the air. Fruits and crops are surrounded by beautiful beauty. Seeing the aesthetic changes of the seasons, various questions were accumulated in the mind of the sun-rain, fog. One day I picked up a pen without knowing it, looking for the answer inside myself.

Global Net:  Why were you in a rugged mountain environment at this age?

Kazi Mohini Islam: The main reason for living in a hilly environment is my father. The whole family had to stay there for a long time because of Father. He loved the hill country very much. My father was a travel-thirsty and tourist-loving man. The intoxication of wandering from village to village, from one end of the country to the other drove him away. He started his career in the army. Within a few days, the great liberation war of ’71 began. He took part in the liberation war for the country. The country became independent. Shortly afterward, he resigned from the army. His wandering mind could not be bound in any chain. After a while, he was captivated by the magic of the beauty of Bandarban and finally settled down. He decided to leave the city life and spend the rest of his life in the vicinity of green nature. He had a soul connection with different peoples of the hill country. He would blend in with their culture effortlessly. I couldn’t understand when I saw my father and his dreams and love. Like my father, I was also addicted to traveling.

Global Net:  What is the importance of travel in human life?

Kazi Mohini Islam: The importance of travel in shaping life is immense. But travel does not mean just wandering around. Travel can also be called an ongoing learning method. Because a person without travel cannot really become a fully educated person. The fact that a tourist can realize the reality of human life by visiting different towns, it is not possible to understand just by reading books.

The variety of languages, family education, culture and way of life in every village is so beautiful that it is impossible to understand without seeing it with one’s own eyes. The unique history of the life struggle of marginalized people is not known. If a tourist travels to know the history-tradition-art-literature-culture of his country and above all, he becomes a part of his patriotism.

Global Net:  What did you dream of growing up in that mountainous civilization as a child?

Kazi Mohini Islam: From the very beginning of understanding life, I have started walking with two dreams. One of them is to walk around the desert in the path of the earth for the rest of one’s life and see the nature and man-made civilization in it. And the second is writing. I don’t know if the first dream will come true. Continuing the second as much as possible.

Global Net:  What is the relationship between writing and tourism? How did you get involved in writing about tourism?

Kazi Mohini Islam: Tourism is an issue that does not need to be planned. People are innately involved in tourism. Although tourism is not given the same attention as other aspects of life; So the matter is not understood. Imagine for a second you were transposed into the karmic-driven world of Earl. The patient would actually recover from the trip. The matter is still ongoing to some. The newlyweds, on the other hand, go on trips to build a beautiful relationship with each other. So, what is the matter? Happily or unhappily, we go to tourism, we have to go. Because tourism is our eternal companion.

Global Net:  Some tourism organizations and TV programs have written the theme song. What are your feelings about this?

Kazi Mohini Islam: I have composed and composed the theme song of Sammilita Paryatan Jote, Paryatan Samabaya Samiti, and My TV’s tourism-related program ‘My Tourism’. I am very happy to be able to do this little thing.

Being able to compose and compose the theme song of Combined Tourism Alliance, a leading organization in the tourism industry of Bangladesh, it seems that the deep joy of some work forgets the blue poison of life. Of course, the need for that work is an important issue.

I often regret that we are not able to make proper use of our country’s heritage and beauty. Because we are so indifferent that we have no idea about the beauty of our own country. There is no such thing as proper care. So day after day neglected tourism industry. The state also has unlimited indifference towards the tourism industry of Bangladesh!

In this situation, the ‘Combined Tourism Alliance’ has been formed to change the context of tourism. This alliance is playing an effective role in properly presenting the tourism industry of Bangladesh to world tourists. Bangladesh’s tourism industry will definitely turn around with the best efforts of all. Surely one day an economically prosperous developed Bangladesh will be built through this tourism industry. I believe that the history of our art literature,  heritage, glorious 52, the history of gaining sovereignty in the great liberation war of 1971 places our identity as a nation at the peak of valor; Similarly, the rich and beautiful tourism industry of Bangladesh can also bring a good reputation in the international arena.

Global Net:  What are your future plans for writing about tourism?

Kazi Mohini Islam: For the past five years, I have been writing a novel on regional language and cultural diversity and tourism in 64 districts of Bangladesh. I do not know when it will end! The task is difficult but wants to finish; Because every citizen has a lot of debt towards his homeland. The sense of duty to repay that debt haunts me all the time.

Global Net:  You are also involved in tourism journalism. He is one of the founders and joint editor of an English language magazine on tourism. Share your experience in this regard.

Kazi Mohini Islam: The media is one of the collaborations needed to work on tourism. The role of media in the promotion, expansion, and development of the tourism industry is immense. There is no alternative for the media to highlight the unique natural beauty of our country, tourist destinations, and various problems and possibilities of the tourism industry to the people of the country and abroad. Weekly ‘The Massage Bangladesh’ is one of the important media related to the expansion of the tourism industry in our country. While working as the joint editor of this magazine, I always face various experiences. We have to go through various adversities and problems including financial crises all the time. Not only in my case, but all the media is also going through various adversities. However, we have to move forward by overcoming all kinds of adversities. I seek the sincere cooperation of the government in solving the problems of the tourism media.

Global Net:  What are the potentials of the tourism sector in Bangladesh? What is your opinion on this?

Kazi Mohini Islam: Unlimited potential is waiting in the tourism industry in Bangladesh. But sadly, we are very messy and indifferent about it. A lot of ‘home cows don’t eat grass from the ghat’ type. There are innumerable beautiful places in our country, which have not been identified as tourist spots yet. On the other hand, there is a lot of disrespect and neglect towards those who are identified. But if this tourism industry could be fully developed, the country and its economy would be prosperous. Tourism means not only the beautiful places suitable for travel but also the significant aspects of a nation’s way of life, including its vision, taste, and beauty, culture. So I believe that if the tourism industry can be streamlined with a hundred percent focus on combining everything, there will be a lot of new jobs and at the same time, there will be a revolution in economic development.
