Global Net Report : On the occasion of National Mourning Day and the 45th anniversary of his martyrdom Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
As part of the state programme, The Prime Minister laid a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, the best Bengali of the millennium and the architect of independence in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road 32 in the capital early this morning.
During this time a smartly contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forces gave state salute. Later, on 15th August, prayers were offered for the peace of the departed souls of the martyrs.
After placing wreaths to Bangabandhu, The Prime Minister visited along with her daughter Saima Wazed Hossain historic residence of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi Road 32 which witnessed the most barbaric carnage on this day 45 years ago.
Paying tributes to Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi, the prime minister later went to Banani Graveyard where her mother Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib, brothers Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal, Sheikh Russell and other martyrs of August 15 were laid to eternal rest and placed floral wreaths on their graves.
The assassins did not only kill Bangabandhu that day. Bangabandhu’s wife Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, Bangabandhu’s son Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and child Sheikh Russell and daughter-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosy Jamal lost their lives one by one.
Bangabandhu’s younger brother Sheikh Nasser, brother-in-law Abdur Rob Serniabat, his son Arif, daughter Baby and Sukantbabu, Bangabandhu’s nephew Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni, his pregnant wife Arju Moni and Abdul Naeem Khan Rintu along 16 members of the family including Colonel Jamil and close relatives could not escape from this heinous murder of the world.
Bangabandhu’s eldest daughter and current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana were out of the country at the time.
