Global Net Report: Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, War Wounded Freedom Fighter R. A. M. Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, MP, said the Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute (BTRI) will play a pioneering role in research on the tourism sector led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute (BTRI), the first and only tourism research institute in the country, on April 2, 2021 at 4:00 pm. The event was held at the company’s own office on the west Panthopath of the capital.
The special guest on the occasion was the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, DIG of Bangladesh Tourist Police Morshedul Anwar Khan and Prof. Dr. Sufi Mostafizur Rahman, Jahangirnagar University, Head of the Department of Archeology.
It was presided over by Kazi Rahim Shahriar, Founder President of Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute (BTRI) and Producer (Program) of My TV. The guest of honor was President Shiblul Azam Qureshi, a former member of Bangladesh Tourism Board and tourism expert Jamiul Ahmed, Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Explorers Association (BTEA) Shahidul Islam Sagar and Director (Training) of International Culinary Institute (ICI) Jahangir Alam. Welcoming speeches were made by BTRI Executive Director Abu Raihan Sarkar.

Afterwards, four books were unveiled, including Kazi Rahim Shahriar, President of the program and Founder President of Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute, one of the poets of the nineties and producer (program) of My TV.
In the speech of the chief guest R. A. M. Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, MP further said that the country’s desired economic development is possible through the tourism industry. The youth of our country are now making outstanding contributions as entrepreneurs in the tourism industry. Apart from hotels, motels, resorts, parks, picnic spots, tour operators, travel agencies, they are playing an admirable role as entrepreneurs in the tourism sub-sectors of the country. Not only that, many women of our country have gained a good reputation in the international arena as world tourists, leaving a mark of success. What is sad is that the research on the tourism industry in Bangladesh has not been done as it should have been. However, research is very important for the expansion, development, and development of the tourism industry.
The Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute (BTRE) has been set up to fulfill this historic responsibility. I congratulate them on the day of the official launch of the organization. Hopefully, Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute will be able to make significant contribution in developing, developing and building a tourism friendly nation by conducting research, training and building skilled manpower in the tourism industry of Bangladesh under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I believe that through tourism, massive employment and overall economic development of the country is possible.
Kazi Rahim Shahriar, Founder President of Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute and Producer (Program) of My TV, said, The Bangladesh Tourism Research Institute (BTRI) will play a role in achieving overall economic prosperity. This institute will conduct various activities in the field of tourism research.
These include organizing basic research and training programs, organizing seminars-symposiums and tourism fairs, publishing journals on tourism, publishing books, leaflets, posters and diaries, documentary programs on tourism, making story films and telefilms, awarding tourism medals, travel and Participation in various international seminars and fairs on tourism etc.
