Global Net Report : Regent Hospital Chairman in the case of the Arms Control Act. Shahed has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of the Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal No. 1 pronounced the verdict on Monday noon.

Witnesses said that while being brought to the court from the jail, Sahed was seen handcuffed and wearing a helmet on his head.

Following the arguments of the state and the defendants, Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of the Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal No. 1 set September 28 as the date for announcing the verdict in the case.

The court framed charges against Sahed on August 28 in the case.

Eleven of the 14 witnesses from the state were produced in court.

Testimony in the case ended on September 15. Arguments were later presented by the accused and the state.

On July 7, a mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided the Regent Hospital in Uttara. Fake corona test report was seized from the hospital.

The RAB filed a case against 17 people including Shahed at Uttara West Police Station. RAB arrested Shahed from Satkhira on July 15 after 9 days of the case.

The next day, on July 16, the court granted Shahed a 10-day remand. Subject to the court’s permission, the Detective Branch (DB) along with Shahed raided the Uttara West police station area on July 18 and recovered a pistol and drugs. On July 30, the police filed a chargesheet against Saheed in the court. The court took cognizance of the chargesheet on August 19.

In 2010, a Dhaka court sentenced Shahed to six months in prison in a check fraud case. There are 13 cases against Saheed in Uttara West police station. Besides, there are more than 50 cases against Shahed all over the country including Dhaka.
