DHAKA, Nov 5, 2021: Officials of Customs Intelligence have detained two passengers at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport along with 4.155 kilograms (kg) melted gold.
The arrested are Delwar and Rabi Miah.
They were detained along with gold from Dubai-Sylhet-Dhaka-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines at around 11:30 am today, said Deputy Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Directorate Sheikh Mohammed Masudur Rahman.
Being informed, the officials concerned raided the aforesaid airlines and later saw the presence of melted gold inside their bodies, Masudur added.
Some gold were also recovered from their luggage also, he said.
The estimated market value of the seized gold is about Taka 2.90 crore.
Legal action will be taken in this regard.
