DHAKA, Sept 15, 2021:  Bangladesh will celebrate its golden jubilee of independence by including the students as the ongoing pandemic situation has improved and the closure of schools-colleges has been withdrawn.

The decision was taken at the sixth meeting of the cabinet committee formed to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence with due dignity in the conference room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs this afternoon, a press release said.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque presided over the meeting, it added.

The meeting discussed the implementation of various events throughout the year in light of the specific plans to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence.

The meeting also focused on the use of both physical and virtual platforms in organizing events.

The golden jubilee of independence will be celebrated up to the grass-roots level in the country, the release said, adding that people of all classes and professions will be part of the celebration.

For this, 50 programs have been taken in the 50 years of independence which include fairs, freedom fighters’ gatherings, various competitions, book publishing, liberation war Olympiads, cultural events, global summits, seminars, it said.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Khwaja Mia, writer and researcher Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Quazi Sazzad Ali Zahir, Bir Pratik, and Editors Guild President Mozammel Babu were present in the meeting room.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md Akhter Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md. Mokbul Hossain, Cabinet Division (Coordination and Reforms) Secretary Md Kamal Hossain, writer and researcher Tarik Sujat, and media personality Shubhash Singho Roy joined the meeting virtually.
