TGN Report : Today mobile courts are operated in Nabinagar upazila’s Rasullabad and municipal markets. 2 mustard oil mills in Rasulabad market were raided. Neither of the two mills had BSTI approval. On the other hand, oil was being produced in unsanitary conditions and marketed without any labeling, without limiting the quality of the oil. For this reason, the owners of 2 mills were fined taka 50,000/- each under the relevant section of the ‘Weights and Measurements Standards Act, 2018’, totaling Taka 100,000/- (1 lakh). On the other hand, during raids on various jewelery shops in Nabinagar municipality, it was found that shop owners are not selling gold according to the weight scale prescribed by the government.


For this, the accused 2 shop owners were fined 20 thousand taka each under the relevant section of the ‘Weights and Measurement Standards Act 2018’ and a total of 40 thousand taka.
BSTI, Comilla, Nabinagar Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Nabinagar Thana Police assisted in running the mobile courts.
